Akiva at DovBear or What’s a Nice Boy Like You Doing in a Place Like This?!

Filed under: Uncategorized — baredove @ 1:06 pm

You might have noticed that DovBear has been adding contributors to his blog. In general, that’s not a bad thing; maybe we will get a more balanced viewpoint. That’s not to say that DovBear isn’t entitled to his opinion, after all it is HIS blog. But it does get tedious reading the same thing over and over again. It’s almost like reading Mad Libs with the following instructions: Insert pejorative adjective here, insert revered Jewish sage here, insert right of center politician here, insert improper grammar here.

Unfortunately, most of DovBear’s “et al.” crew shares the same derisive writing style and improper use of grammar. Akiva from MPaths seems to be an exception. This morning, after putting on my protective goggles to peruse DovBear, I noticed that Akiva had been removed from the list of contributors. However, I had already thought of the cutesy title for this post, so I will write this anyway.

Anyone who has seen Akiva’s site Mystical Paths knows that he writes on things that DovBear can’t stand: segulos, end times, moshiach, geulah. DovBear makes a living (or detracts from his making of a living) by ridiculing these things. Why then would Akiva agree to contribute to DovBear? Maybe to take advantage of DovBear’s wide readership (kind of like what we are doing here). Maybe to soften the tone of DovBear. Who knows.

Now, it seems that Akiva is gone from DovBear. Perhaps cooler heads prevailed.

  1. I want to see your take on this Path to 9/11 – “contraversy”… I can’t believe Dovbear is repeating the liberal calls for boycot before anybody has even seen the whole film.

  2. He’s just regurgitating talking points. He can’t help himself.

Here’s a short list of blogs you might enjoy instead. If you find one that’s perfect, please let me know (and because it doesn’t fit your General Theory of DovBear’s Turpitude, pay no attention to the fact that one of the only blogrolls that attempts to list every Jewish blog in creation can be found on DovBear:)

Right, left, center, it doesn’t matter. Chew on that.

  5. Two points DB:

First, could you make that comment in to clickable links?

Second, where are Jew School, Cross-Currents, Seraphic Secret, Beyond BT, Dry Bones and most importantly Bare Dove (to name just a few clearly missing at a glance)? Selective inclusion or something else?

BTW, what does this all have to do with the post?
